The 56th Annual Youth Chess Tournament took place at Ludington High School this past Saturday. A total of 72 contestants took place in the tournament. Mario Arnson, a fifteen year old from Muskegon, went undefeated to win the high school division. Arnson won the middle school division in 2010.

David Meyer, a twelve year old from Traverse City, took second losing only to Arnson.
Taking first place in the Middle School Division was Tanner Gummere of Buckley. Andrew Ducharme of Elk Rapids placed second, Dylan Constantine of Nunica placed third and Alec Mitteer of Shelby took fourth.
Nathan Peterson of Spring Lake won the Elementary School Division. Joshua VanderMeulen of Spring Lake took second, Bradin Rice of Traverse City third and Jared Rice of Grand Rapids took fourth.
The Ludington Optimist Club sponsors the annual event.
